May El-Hosseiny

“Our relationships—with ourselves, our partners, and our sexuality—are an important part of our psychological well-being. Therapy can offer a safe space to understand what is getting in the way and create meaningful, lasting positive change.”

Personal Experience & Biography

May El-Hosseiny is a CDA-Licensed Psychologist, Certified Psychosexual Therapist, and Individual and Couple Therapist based in Dubai.

She holds an MSc in Applied Psychology from Middlesex University, UK, and completed her professional certification in Psychosexual Therapy at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS), UK.

May works with adults and couples experiencing relationship difficulties, intimacy and sexual concerns, and emotional or psychological challenges that affect how they feel about themselves and connect with others.

May uses an integrative and biopsychosocial approach, looking beyond the presenting symptom to understand the individual, relational, psychological, sexual, and cultural factors that may be contributing to it.

Her therapeutic approach is evidence-based, sex-positive, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental, while respecting each client’s individual values, beliefs, boundaries, and choices.

Psychosexual Therapy

“In sexual problems, the body often explains part of the story, not the whole story”

Sexual difficulties can affect much more than sex. They may influence self-confidence, body image, emotional closeness, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Rather than focusing only on sexual “performance,” May’s approach explores the wider experience of sexuality—including pleasure, safety, comfort, communication, consent, emotional connection, beliefs, expectations, and relationship dynamics.

Through Psychosexual therapy, May can help you with:

  • Low or mismatched sexual desire
  • Difficulties with sexual arousal and/or reaching orgasm
  • Vaginismus, pain, fear, or anxiety associated with sexual activity
  • Male performance anxiety
  • Sexual trauma and avoidance
  • Differences in sexual needs, preferences, or expectations between partners
  • Difficulties communicating about sex and intimacy
  • Sexual shame, guilt, or negative beliefs about sexuality
  • Body image and sexual self-confidence
  • Porn addiction, sex addiction, and compulsive sexual behaviour
  • Changes in sexuality during pregnancy, postpartum, and other life transitions
  • Exploring sexual preferences, identity, and concerns related to sexuality
  • Psychosexual education
Individual Therapy

May’s individual therapy services may help you with:

  • Difficulties regulating emotions
  • Relationship distress or uncertainty
  • Breakups, separation, and adjustment to relationship changes
  • Understanding past relational experiences and their possible impacts on current and future relationships
  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Body image concerns
  • Attachment and recurring relationship patterns
  • Difficulties identifying or expressing emotional needs, boundaries, and assertiveness
  • Difficult experiences within intimate relationships
  • Anxiety, stress, and overthinking
Premarital Counselling

Premarital counselling provides couples with a structured, supportive space to understand each other more deeply, explore important expectations, and build the skills needed to navigate married life together.

Sessions may explore communication and conflict, emotional needs, family backgrounds and boundaries, finances, roles and responsibilities, intimacy and sexual expectations, parenthood, personal values, and future goals. Drawing on her expertise in both couple and psychosexual therapy, May also provides a culturally sensitive space for conversations about sexuality and intimacy that couples may find difficult to initiate before marriage.
